Shero, Fred

Born in Winnipeg, this defenceman played junior with St. James and the Winnipeg Rangers. He had three NHL seasons with the New York Rangers and played on two Calder Cup winners with Cleveland in 1953 and 1954. Shero was also a member of the 1956 WHL champion Winnipeg Warriors. After his playing days he turned to coaching and piloted the Buffalo Bisons to the 1970 AHL title and won Coach of the Year. Shero then coached the Philadelphia Flyers to Stanley Cup victories in 1974 and 1975. He finished his 10 year NHL coaching career with the New York Rangers in 1982.
