Born in Winnipeg, this defenceman was part of the 1943 Winnipeg Rangers Memorial Cup championship team. He played three seasons in the NHL. Frank Mathers played 14 AHL seasons with the Hershey Bears and then became Playing Coach, Coach, finally General Manager. He was an AHL All-Star five times. In 1987 the NHL honoured him with Lester Patrick Award for 35 years distinguished service to hockey in the U.S.A.
