Benson, Bill

Born in Winnipeg, this centreman played minor hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs and was on several provincial winning teams. In 1940 he won the MJHL scoring title. Benson turned pro later that year and played 2 NHL seasons with the New York/ Brooklyn Americans. He served three years with the Canadian Armed Forces. After World War II, he returned to play in the AHL from 1946 to 1950 with Cleveland and Pitts burgh and recorded 155 points in 273 games.
