Born in Stony Mountain, this centreman played in the MJHL with St. Boniface and Portage la Prairie and captured the league scoring title in 1937 with the Portage Terriers. He played 319 games over 13 seasons in the QSHL with 180 goals, 280 assists for 460 points. "Smiley" Meronek played 19 games in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens and scored 5 goals, 8 assists for 13 points.
