Born in Cupar, Saskatchewan, this right winger played junior with the 1937 and 1938 Brandon Wheat Kings. He turned pro in 1940 with Philadelphia of the AHL and after two seasons he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in World War II. He returned to play with the St. Paul Saints of the USHL and was on their 1948-49 championship team. Mitch Pechet finished his career with the Calgary Stampeders of the WCHL.
