Born in Portage la Prairie, this goaltender played junior in his hometown with the 1942 Memorial Cup champions Terriers. In 1943 he was the leading goalie in the AHL with the Buffalo Bisons (2.40 GAA) and made the First All-Star Team. The 9 shutouts he registered that season stood as an AHL record upon his induction in 1985. In 1949, while with the Omaha Knights, he was named to the USHL Second All-Star Team. Gordon Bell played a few games in the NHL with Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers.
