Born in Kenora, Raleigh moved to Winnipeg when he was a youngster. At 16 this centreman played junior hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs. In 1943 he played 13 games with the New York Rangers but a broken jaw sent him back home. "Bones" played two more years of junior and won the MJHL scoring title with the Brandon Elks in 1946. He returned to the Rangers in 1947 and later be came their captain. He scored two overtime game winners in the 1950 Stanley Cup final but the Rangers lost to Detroit in overtime in the seventh game. In 10 seasons in the NHL, he played 535 games, with 101 goals, 219 assists, 320 points.
