Dietrich, Don
Date of Birth: 1961-04-05Don Dietrich of Deloraine, a former defenseman and captain of the Brandon Wheat Kings, soaked up a lot of knowledge as a player in the NHL, AHL, East Coast League, with Team Canada and in Germany and Switzerland. He coached in Switzerland and then brought that knowledge back to Manitoba. He has coached the Southwest Cougar midgets and the SWHL Deloraine Royals and scouted for the WHL Spokane Chiefs. Dietrich has been involved with the Hockey Canada national coach mentorship program and was instrumental in developing The Breakfast Club where young players come out twice a week to practice skill development. Inspirational, unselfish, courageous, committed and determined are just a few of the words that have been used to describe him. Dietrich has written an autobiography titled No Guarantees that tells his story of living life to the fullest despite illness and injury.
