Born in Winnipeg, Dennis Ball coached two City championship teams in the late 1940's and reorganized the MJHL Winnipeg Rangers. He spent 25 years with the New York Rangers and nine more with St. Louis Blues, proving his ability to judge hockey talent and operate in the big leagues. He was a part-time scout for the New York Rangers from 1949 to 1953, then promoted to full-time Western Scout. He moved to New York in 1969 as Asst. GM and Farm Director. He was St.Louis GM in 1975 and 1976, and Assistant to the President when he retired in 1983.
