Born in Winnipeg, this all round athlete was selected "Manitoba's Athlete of the Century" in 1970. The right-winger played with the Strathconas in the In dependent Hockey League in 1914 and won the scoring title the next year. He played senior hockey with the Monarchs, Vimy, Winnipegs and Selkirk before turning pro with the Winnipeg Maroons in 1926. He was the AHA scoring champion in 1926-27. He was sold to Chicago along with team-mate Charlie Gardiner in 1927. Cecil Browne played 13 games in the NHL with the Blackhawks before an injury sent him back home.
