Date of Birth: 1949-10-22Born in St. Boniface, this centreman played junior with the Winnipeg Rangers, the Winnipeg Jets Juniors and the Dauphin Kings. In 16 NHL seasons with Los Angeles Kings, the New York Islanders and Boston Bruins, he played 1107 games, scored 375 goals, 513 assists, for 888 points. He won 4 Stanley Cups with the Islanders, played 134 playoff games, scored 38 goals, 50 assists, for 88 points. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP in 1981; the Lady Byng Trophy in 1978 and the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 1978. "Butch" Goring recorded only 102 penalty minutes in 1107 games, a testimony to his sportsmanship.
