Mulligan, Andy

Born in Winnipeg, this defenceman played junior hockey with the University of Manitoba from 1923 to 1926 and tied for the scoring title in his final season. He went on to play 365 games in the American Hockey Association from 1928 to 1940. He came back home and coached the St. James juniors for a couple of seasons and then took over as Coach and GM of the IHL Toledo Mercurys who won the IHL championship in 1947-48. He later became Commissioner of the IHL from 1962 to 1969. Andy Mulligan was honoured by the league when it named a trophy after him.
