OBITUARY; It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Thomas Forgie (76), loving husband, father and grandfather, on January 2nd, 2025. He is survived by Kyra Forgie, his wife and life partner of 40 years, daughter Amber Marshall, son-in-law Morgan Marshall, grandsons Connar, Levi and Junior.
Born February 24th, 1948, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of George's proudest life achievements was playing in the NHL when there were only the original six teams. He won a Stanley Cup ring and is in the Hockey Hall of Fame. He was a defenseman and enforcer and had the scars to prove the many altercations he had on the ice.
After his hockey career, he worked in car sales, eventually becoming a managing dealer in Manitoba. In 1983, he moved west with his family and transitioned into pest control, meeting many wonderful people along the way. George was an amazing storyteller and could regale anyone who would listen with incredible stories of his hockey life and all the celebrities he met along the way. George held nothing back and was a straight shooter with no filter. He always told it like it was and the listener could deal with it however they wanted to. Kyra was George's queen and held her in the highest regard throughout their lives together. There was not anything he would not do for his beloved wife.
He will be remembered for his kind heart and the genuine warmth he consistently conveyed to all who were close to him. George, Dad, Grandpa...you will be missed and the love you so earned will live on in memory of you.
A celebration of George's life will be planned for a later date.
