Ty Dilello has been awarded the 2019 Sweeney Award for his book Golden Boys: The Top 50 Manitoba Hockey Players of All Time.
Dilello's book looks at fifty players that have shaped the history of hockey in Manitoba. This book offers detailed biographies, rare photographs and plenty of never-been-told before stories on some of hockey's greatest players who came from Manitoba.
His list started with a simple rule that all the players got their start on the ice in Manitoba. After breaking down the large number of Manitobans that have played in the NHL over the past 100 years, Dilello's research eventually brought in his top 50.
TY DILELLO is an accredited writer with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and is a member of the Society for International Hockey Research (SIHR). He has been a hockey fan since Peter Bondra led the Washington Capitals to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1998. Ty plays extensively on the World Curling Tour in the winter and can probably be found on a tennis court during the summer months.
