Foreman, Ted

Ted Foreman played juvenile and junior in the Canadiens organization and reached the Memorial Cup final in 1952-53 with St. Boniface Canadiens. After breaking his leg the following season, he turned to coaching and headed the Spartans, Excelsiors and Riverview minor teams. When the Winnipeg Jets entered the WHA, he was asked in his professional capacity to provide financial services to the team's players. Since that time his advice has ensured financial stability after pro hockey for more than 100 players. When the Jets became community-owned, he served as one of the 52 directors responsible for operating the team. In 1983, he was part of a group that purchased the Fort Garry Blues of the MJHL and renamed the team Winnipeg South Blues. He served as president for eight years and was the annual dinner and fundraising chairman for the 18 years he served on the board.
