Keane, Mike
Date of Birth: 1967-05-29Mike Keane played his minor hockey for Sir John Franklin Community Club and the Winnipeg Monarchs. His junior career included three seasons in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors and for Team Canada in the I987 World Junior Championship.
Undrafted by the NHL, the right winger went on to play 1161 NHL games where he recorded 193 goals and 263 assists. Keane was a member of Stanley Cup winning teams in 1992-93 with the Montreal Canadiens, in 1995-96 with the Colorado Avalanche and in 1998-99 with the Dallas Stars. He also played for the New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks.
Keane served as the 23rd captain of the Montreal Canadiens and finished his career as captain of the Manitoba Moose for five seasons. He was known as a great leader, shot blocker and penalty killer.
