Born in Winnipeg, this centreman played junior for 1921 Winnipeg Falcons, the first Western team to win the Memorial Cup. He played senior with Winnipeg Victorias and Fort William Forts. Somers played three seasons with Winnipeg Maroons, first in the CHL and then in the AHA. In parts of 6 NHL seasons with the New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks, he played 222 games with 33 goals, 56 assists, for 89 points. Art Somers was with the Rangers when they won the 1933 Stanley Cup.
