Percival Walter “Perk” Galbraith was born in Toronto, ON on December 5, 1898. The family moved west to Winnipeg when he was 3 years old, taking up residence on Furby Street.

Galbraith displayed exceptional hockey talent from a young age, playing in the Manitoba Senior Hockey League at just 16 with the Winnipeg Winnipegs (1914/15) and later the Winnipeg Victorias (1915–17). His early career was interrupted when he served in World War I, missing two seasons before returning in 1919/20 to play with the Winnipeg Monarchs.

In 1920/21, Galbraith moved to the United States, beginning a four-year stint with the Eveleth Rangers, followed by a season with the Eveleth Arrowheads in the USAHA. His strong play led to an NHL opportunity with the Boston Bruins in 1926/27. As a rookie, he’d make an immediate impact in the low-scoring NHL, recording nine goals and 17 points while appearing in all 42 games.

During his seven seasons with the Bruins, he helped the team capture the Stanley Cup in 1929 and win five Prince of Wales Trophies (1928–31, 1933) as American Division champions. In 1933, he was briefly traded to the Ottawa Senators but was released after two games and quickly rejoined Boston for his final NHL season in 1933/34.

Galbraith retired after playing 347 regular-season NHL games, recording 31 goals and 29 assists, along with 11 points in 31 playoff appearances.

Following his NHL career, Galbraith continued playing in the minors before transitioning to coaching. In 1939/40, he led the St. Paul Saints to the American Hockey Association championship, capturing the Harry F. Sinclair Trophy and capping a long and distinguished hockey career.
