The Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame is saddened to hear of the recent passing of Jim Irving, Gavin Speirs and Tom Trosky, members of the 1965 University of Manitoba hockey team, national collegiate champions and Honoured Members of the MBHHF.

Trosky laced up with the Winnipeg Rangers of the MJHL for the 1960/61 season while Irving was a Ranger for the 1962/63 and 1963/64 seasons with Speirs as a teammate.

All of them attended the University of Manitoba and were key contributors to the Bison's national title.

Trosky would go on to a career in teaching and was a leader in the formation of the Winnipeg High School Hockey League.

Irving would spend a couple seasons in Europe before joining Canada's National hockey team from 1968 to 1970. He would go on to a career in medicine.

Speirs played overseas for a brief time in Cologne, Germany and was a talented golfer as well, winning 3 Manitoba Senior titles and representing Manitoba on several Provincial golf teams.
