Born in Lucknow, Ontario, this left winger was captain of the 1923 Memorial Cup winner, the University of Manitoba. When the New York Rangers were formed in 1926, he was one of the first players signed. He was the NHL's first ironman playing in 508 games, all with the Rangers. He was on two Stanley Cup winners with New York in 1928 and 1933. In 11 NHL seasons he played 508 games, scored 84 goals with 108 assists for 192 points. Murdoch coached at Yale University for 28 years. In 1974 he was awarded the Lester Patrick Trophy for outstanding service to the game in the United States.
