Bend, J. P. "Jack"Date of Death: 1969-11-28
Born in Poulton, England, he was a coach and/or manager for 50 years. He managed the Portage la Prairie Terriers, winners of the 1942 Memorial Cup. Bend also managed the Poplar Point Pilgrims, the 1920 Manitoba Intermediate champions. He then coached younger players winning the 1930 Provincial Juvenile championship; one of his players was Bryan Hextall. Jack Bend managed the Poplar Point Memorials to six consecutive Intermediate "B" titles 1953-59 inclusive with the 1957 team also taking the "A" championship.
