Born in Winnipeg, this defenceman played in the MJHL with the Winnipeg Black Hawks before heading east and starting a 20 year hockey career. He played 855 games with 61 goals, 259 assists for 320 points. His career included 80 games in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers. Jack Bownass was a member of Canada's National Team for four years and played in the AHL, WHL, EPHL, IHL and the QHL. He was selected to the Second All-Star Team in the IHL in 1951 and to the OHL First All-star Team in 1958.
