Born in Hamiota, this defenceman played junior hockey with the Estevan Bruins. After turning pro with the Boston Bruins in 1960, he was sent to the minors after the 1961 season. In 1966 and 1967 he played with the CPHL champion Oklahoma City Blazers. He was back with Boston in 1968 and was a member of their 1970 and 1972 Stanley Cup championship teams. Dallas Smith played 16 NHL seasons, 890 games, scored 55 goals, 252 assists, for 307 points.
