He played minor hockey in Winnipeg's North End and Junior in 1939/40 with the Winnipeg Monarchs. He would turn pro, the following season, signing with the Chicago Black Hawks. The Black Hawks gained a great forward unit when Mosienko teamed up with the Bentley brothers, Max and Doug, to form the "Pony Line" in the `40s.
During a 14-year career he scored 258 goals and 540 points in 711 games. He won the Lady Byng Trophy (1945) and was named to the NHL's Second All-Star Team (1945 & `46). He set an NHL record by scoring 3 goals in 21 seconds against New York Rangers on March 23, 1952 at Madison Square Garden.
He returned to Winnipeg in 1955 and led the Warriors to the 1955/56 Western Hockey League championship and the Edinborough Trophy. In 2000, he was selected to Manitoba's All-Century First All-Star Team.
